It is hard to express what you feel when you are diagnosed with cancer. The feeling is of hopelessness and great emptiness. But it must be even harder when you do not have the necessary means to face this evil, because the treatments are so expensive, almost unaffordable.
Being so young, I did not know how to react or what to expect. But with the help of great doctors by the name of Dr. Antonio Ucar and Dr. George Suarez and the the League’s warm and caring staff, they did not just help my well being, they also raised my spirits.
I am fortunate that my insurance pays for all my operations and treatments. However, I know there are millions of people that do not have health insurance, and they have to face this cruel disease without economic support.
When I arrived there, I was sad and discouraged like all cancer patients. But in “The League” my sadness turned into optimisms, thanks to the love and professionalism of the volunteers, the nurses, and the administrators.
