DIAGNOSTIC: Breast Cancer

My name is Sonia Goncalves and I am 22 years old. I became a patient at Liga Contra el Cancer in 2020 due to a diagnosis of Breast Cancer at age of 20. Fortunately, I was grateful to have a foundation to be able to help me in every way I can whether it be mentally, medically, or financially. Beginning with chemotherapy, I was very scared! Truly terrified. Being young and being diagnosed felt like my life was ending. The nurses at the facility they became my support system. I was not really a easy patient, I was angry and depressed all the time. However, having the ability to have the nurses always there just made me feel safe. I was terrified that my health would suffer due to me not having financial means, however, la Liga was able to lift those worries off my shoulders, so I focus on my health and recovery. I have had the best experience with Dr. Villa ! he listens to my concern and my boyfriend always says that I am the unluckiest yet luckiest girl in the world and that is very true because yes, I was unlucky and got diagnosed. I was lucky that I had a team and was able to be a patient of the League Against Cancer. I am forever grateful and indebted to them for all the assistant they provide.
